So you wanna work for the Big 4??!

Here is a short Q&A / FAQ that gives you a small insight to what it would be like to be a Big 4 Associate. Everyone (who majors in accounting) seems to want to work for the big 4, do you?

Bad Drivers Beware

In this sarcastic article the career journal covers briefly the subject of eddicut at job interviews. The article says that company is building a picture of you piece by piece and to becareful of your actions. They suggest acting as if you are a guest and to beware of egotistical moves.

Although this article seems geared more towards the jetset/ceo crowd, I think there is a valuable lesson to be learned for everyone.

Internship, for an Artist??!

If you are an art major like me, you have probally wondered: where are all of the art internships. Everyday I see tons of internships for business and engineering or technical jobs but I rarely see one pop up for art majors. Here is a site that has a really good listing of internships including some in San Jose that I had never heard of:

Artist Resource - http://www.artistresource.org/intern.htm

That is way more than I wanted to know

Have you ever gone to someones website and found out way more than you ever wanted to know about them. Pictures of thier wedding, reception, honeymoon!

This article at Career Journal warns of the pitfals of putting a link to a personal website on your resume. According to the articled you should be very careful with what you put up there. I have also heard rumors of employers having accounts to check myspace and facebook accounts. A good word of advice is to keep it private or use another email address on your resume that doesn't link to those sites.

Designing a Digital Portfolio (Book)

Really great book about creating digital / traditional portfolios. This book is nice because it isn't just limited to graphic design but rather covers several types of careers related to art such as illustration, animation, industrial design, fine art, etc.
